Finally, county Finance Minister Jackline Momanyi resigned on Friday after months of agitating for an exit from Governor John Nyagarama's government.
Mrs. Momanyi, who served as Chief Officer in the sand department for five years before her promotion in later December last year, confirmed her exit via phone call.
"I had thought about it for a while and you all know. You can't stick to same working environment forever. I handed mu resignation to the governor and someone else has taken over.
"Of course I am moving for greener pastures. I thank the governor for entrusting me with the job and despite the hiccups, I believe that I executed my mandate diligently," she said.
In August, news about her intended resignation went viral but she was quick to dismiss the claims. However, a source intimated that she rescinded her decision after persuasion by Governor Nyagarama.
And with fresh claims that she could have been sacked, the former minister insisted that she voluntarily quit after 'giving her best'.
"I just gave my best. I told you that if I move, then am going for greener pastures. I quit from government and I personally handed over the letter to the governor."
Her colleague, Peter Muga of Tourism and Trade will take over in acting capacity with sources intimating that the substantive minister will be appointed in January.
She leaves behind a government that has struggled to implement basic projects despite massive finding with internal sabotage blamed largely for the county's misfortunes.
