Disquiet in PDP as Jonathan loses senatorial district to Sylva, APC

here was loud silence in the Bayelsa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the inability of former President Goodluck Jonathan to deliver his community and senatorial district to the party in the just-concluded elections. Results of the elections showed poor performance of the PDP in Jonathan’s Otuoke community in Ogbia Local Government Area and his entire East Senatorial District comprising Ogbia, Nembe and Brass local government areas. The senatorial district fell to a former Governor of the state, Chief Timipre Sylva, who worked assiduously to deliver the senatorial candidate of the APC, Mr. Degi Eremienyo Wagara and the candidate for Nembe-Brass Federal Constituency, Isreal Sunny-Igoli. Tea and bread sellers on Wednesday in Yola treated ‘almajiri ‘ pupils to a free breakfast as part of activities to celebrate the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC. A News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent who went round the town, reports seeing the pupils queuing up in different tea and bread selling spots, most of them beaming with smiles while waiting for their turn to collect their share. One of the sellers, Umaru Ali, told NAN that their joy knew no bound, adding that their gesture was aimed at ensuring the participation of the less privileged in the celebration. ational Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bolaji Ahmed Tinubu, has reacted to the outcome of the 2019 presidential election. President Muhammadu Buhari was on Tuesday night, declared winner of the election, defeating the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Tinubu called on the opposition to accept the result, adding that it was free and fair. Tinubu spoke at the Campaign Centre of the APC, in Abuja after President Buhari gave his address to party members and Nigerians. Tinubu said, “There will always be a winner and a loser in an election. “That is what is being demonstrated in the country today. It is now left for true democrats to accept the outcome of this free and fair process.” He thanked the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the smooth conduct of the election. He added, “INEC has done its best. They have been excellent in this election and we must congratulate them.”

1' President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress has won the 2019 Nigeria presidential election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declares on Wednesday. The 76-year-old defeated his main rival, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, by polling 15,197,076 votes in the election held on Saturday, 23 February 2019. Atiku polled 11,256,945 votes to lose with 3,940,131 votes. The Punch reports that Saturday’s election held after a week-long postponement, which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) blamed on difficulties in distributing ballot boxes and materials

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday rejected the results of last Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections being announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This is even as results so far announced from 11 states and the FCT put President Muhammadu Buhari slightly ahead of PDP’s Atiku Abubakar. The collation officer for the LGA, Pang Enubari, presented the results which included 72,745 votes for the All Progressives Congress and 7,148 votes for the Peoples Democratic Party. But agents of political parties led by PDP’s Austin Okpara protested because the Electoral Officer (EO), Kenneth Eta, earlier said no collation took place in the area. The EO said the collation officer could not be found between Saturday night and Monday morning and queried the source of the results he presented to the collation centre in Port Harcourt. Official results from the Presidential and National Assembly elections across Nigeria, announced by the  Independent National Electoral Commission  (INEC), has started coming in from different wards and Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the country, with most  Nigerians  anxiously waiting to know who is winning. Dino Melaye Blazes To Victory In Kogi West

Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party senatorial candidate in Kogi West appears to be coasting to victory in results declared so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission. He won the highest votes in Mopamuro Local Government Area. Melaye is seeking reelection for the second term into the red chamber of the National Assembly, with his toughest rival, Mr Smart Adeyemi of the APC. Mr Ibrahim Ismaila, the INEC Collation Officer of Mopamuro LGA, announced the interim results at the collation centre in INEC LG office in Mopa at about 3: 20 a.m on Sunday. According to Ismaila, the PDP senatorial candidate, Melaye won 5112 votes, while his closest rival Smart Adeyemi of APC got 3658 votes, ADC 784 and SDP 26 votes out of the 9717 valid votes cast.
