One of the most influential traditional rulers in the North and Emir of Gunmi, HRH Justice Lawal Hassan Gunmi, has urged the Buhari-led administration to adopt modern administrative methods to develop the country.
The Emir spoke passionately at a public event on why government can no longer keep doing the same thing and expect change. He said, “It is true that we are in dire need of change in Nigeria because we can no longer keep doing the same thing and expect change.
“We all agree that we need change as promised by the government, but that change must first begin with them, then, you and me.” Gummi stated this as the keynote speaker at the Barewa Old Boys Association’s 2018 annual lecture at the Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic in Sokoto. If you recall, the All Progressive Congress, APC, campaigned on ‘Change’, which never came. Political analysts believed the former Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), who voluntarily resigned to be Emir in 2013, was sending a strong message to the president that Nigerians were indeed tired of his rhetorics and might demand real change in 2019.
